We are not enemies.

Water rights are at the center of high-stakes legal proceedings in northwest Washington state, where Indigenous groups, local farmers, and government agencies are at odds over how to best share this dwindling resource and steward the watershed they all depend on.
Catalyzed by this urgent call for action, community members are coming together to find common ground and move forward in harmony.
Water Wars (How to Avoid) weaves together a feature film, short vignettes, and community events to illuminate the diverse stories of lives and livelihoods connected to the Nooksack River. Amidst the region’s environmental, cultural, and economic realities, the project explores shared values and the challenges of navigating water rights adjudication, watershed stewardship, and community resilience.
